Locals in Inle Lake do not make their lives only by fishing but also by cultivating. They grow vegetables and fruit in many large floating gardens on the lake. The floating beds are made fromweeds, collected fromthe deeper parts of the lake by farmers. The water level makes these gardens rise and fall. Thank to the nutrient filled water source, these gardens are incredibly fertilized. Besides, they also grow a number of rice by this way.

Discovering all the different floating villages in Inle Lake will not make you disappointed.  While visiting, you can use motorboats and bikes.  Motorboat is quite cheap for you to rent, nearly 4,000 Kyats per person in group of 4 for a full day with a driver. You will be taken to many souvenir shops. You have a good chance to see here how the locals make many different things from scarves to silver jewelries and cigars by hand.
