Sale, also known as Salay, is a religious center located at the eastern bank of Ayeyarwaddy River, 36 kilometers south of Bagan. It can be visited from Bagan through a half day tour including Mt. Popa or through a full day tour.
The town of Sale is renowned for its exquisite wood crafts and sacred monasteries. Enjoy its beauty with more than 50 monasteries, over 100 monuments from Pagan era, and antique colonial buildings. Coming to Sale, you can visit Shinbin Maha Laba Man Paya which contains Myanmar’s biggest lacquer Buddha image, or access Yoke Sone Kyaung where beautiful wood crafts from the 19th century can be found.
