Shwe Oo Min cave pagoda in Pindaya is the most beautiful among cave temples in Shan State. The natural cave complex and tunnels are full of Buddha images in numerous shapes, sizes and materials such as alabaster, teak, marble, brick, lacquer and cement. There are nearly 9000 statues in the cave. Some of them have been there for centuries by Burmese pilgrims. Furthermore, the more pilgrims arrive, the more new images are installed. Visitors can access to the cave entrance by many stairways climbing the ridge or possibly by the lift.
You will see a monumental 40ft-high, gilded, Shan-style sitting Buddha on the second cave pavilion, a large reclining Buddha on the third chamber and more shrines and pagodas along the hilltop.
It will take you about 20 minutes to walk to the cave easily along the road, passing the Golden Cave and Conqueror Hotels. Otherwise, you can also take a horse cart from the market to the Nget Pyaw Taw pagoda entrance with the cost of 1000 Kyats.
