Pretty simple but sophisticated and outstanding is the Shwegugale Pagoda. It is an ideal place to find peace of mind and give up the tiredness of daily life.
Shwegugale Pagoda was constructed in 1494 under the reign of King Byinnya Yan. After more than half a century, it has been restored several times but still keeps the unique architecture. Unlike other temples, the stupa and temple roofs are designed to be simple but tasteful, containing a reverence and sacredness. The temple is actually a circular tunnel with 64 Buddha statues in the same posture placed inside, the size of each statue is equivalent to a person. Visitors have to go in a circle to admire all the statues.
Landscape around the temple will make visitors really overwhelmed because it is pretty like a picture. Shwegugale Pagoda was built on a lake with three bridges leading out in different directions. Prominently among the green of the trees and the water surface, the pagoda is a wonderful combination of natural beauty and human creativity. Hardly any temple in Bago is separate and peaceful like it. No parking lots, souvenir shops, food stalls, and so on. Therefore, the atmosphere in here makes visitors feel spiritual retreat and immersed in the natural beauty as well as the culture of ancient Buddhist.
